Jordan DeVylder and Meshan Lehmann published in Schizophrenia Research

Assistant Professor Jordan DeVylder and MSW student Meshan Lehmann, with Fang-pei Chen of National Chung Cheng University in Taiwan, published an article entitled “Social and Clinical Correlates of the Persistence of Psychotic Experiences in the General Population” in Schizophrenia Research. The article can be found online at http://dx.doi.org/10.1016/j.schres.2015.08.039.

The mission of the School of Social Work s Doctor of Philosophy program is to prepare graduates to conduct interdisciplinary research and become exemplary social work scholars and educators.

UM SSW Convocation Information For 2015 May (Spring) and July (Summer) Graduates

(Decmeber 2014 graduates are also eligible to take part and be honored)

Where: Patricia and Arthur Modell Performing Arts Center at the Lyric – 140 W. Mt. Royal Avenue, Baltimore, MD 21201

Time: 9 AM — Doors to the Lyric open at 8 AM. Tickets are limited to 4 per graduate as space is limited.

The University of Maryland, Baltimore’s Commencement ceremony begins at the Royal Farms Arena at 2 p.m. the same day. There is no limit to the number of family members and friends that can attend the afternoon event.

Michael Reisch Honored

Master social work programs An article by Michael Reisch, Daniel Thursz Distinguished Professor of Social Justice, and Dawn Philip, MSW 2015, was named “Best Conceptual Article of 2015” by the editors of Social Work Education: An International Journal. The article, “Rethinking social work’s interpretation on environmental justice: From local to global,” appeared in the July 2015 issue of the journal.

Tanya Sharpe – Associate Professor

Master social work programsThe University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) commemorates Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Black History Month at an annual event to recognize student, faculty and staff leaders in diversity. Sharpe was honored as a UMB Champion of Excellence for her research focus on the aftermath of mass violence, traumatic death, and coping among African American family members of homicide victims.
